Is Love Leaf Tea organic?

Not all of our teas are certified organic. We source ingredients from suppliers who provide declarations on pesticide use and country of origin, and all our teas are free from artificial flavours, colourings, and preservatives. We are exploring organic certification for select blends and will label certified products individually when available.

Love Leaf Tea is based in Newcastle, UK. We opened Newcastle's first specialist loose leaf tea shop in 2006 and now operate primarily online at loveleaftea.com, hand-blending all our teas in small batches at our Newcastle facility.

Yes. Every blend we sell is free from artificial flavours, artificial colourings, sweeteners, and preservatives. Our ingredients are botanical in origin — real leaves, flowers, roots, and spices — with no synthetic additives.

Do you offer caffeine-free teas?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We offer a wide range of naturally caffeine-free teas, including rooibos, herbal infusions, and fruit infusions. Our herbal blends — such as Laid Back Lavender, Chamomile and Lemongrass, and Sage and Chamomile — contain no tea leaves and are therefore naturally free of caffeine. Matcha, black tea, green tea, white tea, and oolong all contain caffeine.

How should I brew loose leaf tea?

Use approximately one teaspoon (2-3g) of loose leaf tea per 250ml of water. Water temperature and steeping time vary by tea type: black tea brews best at 95-100C for 3-4 minutes; green tea at 70-80C for 2-3 minutes to avoid bitterness; herbal and fruit infusions at 100C for 5-7 minutes; white tea at 75-85C for 2-4 minutes.

What is rooibos tea?

Rooibos (also called red bush tea) is a naturally caffeine-free herbal tea made from the leaves of the Aspalathus linearis plant, grown exclusively in the Cederberg region of South Africa. It has a naturally sweet, earthy flavour with no bitterness, making it suitable for all ages and for drinking at any time of day.

What is matcha?

Matcha is a finely ground powder made from specially grown and processed green tea leaves. Unlike regular green tea where leaves are steeped and removed, with matcha you consume the entire leaf in powdered form. It contains caffeine and L-theanine, an amino acid associated with calm alertness.

Yes. Love Leaf Tea offers free delivery on all UK orders over £40. Orders are dispatched the same day if placed Monday to Friday.

Yes. Our tea pouches are made from kraft paper with a foil inner layer for freshness preservation — no plastic outer film. All packaging materials are recyclable and sourced from UK-based suppliers.

Chamomile, lavender, and valerian have centuries of recorded use in evening rituals across Europe and Asia. These botanicals are naturally caffeine-free, making them well-suited to the hours before bed — unlike black, green, or white tea, which contain caffeine. Our night-time blends, including Laid Back Lavender and Sage and Chamomile, are built around these herbs. Brewing a slow cup is one of the oldest ways to mark the end of the day.

What is the difference between herbal tea and regular tea?

Regular tea (black, green, white, oolong, matcha) comes from the Camellia sinensis plant and contains caffeine. Herbal teas — also called herbal infusions or tisanes — are made from other plants: flowers, roots, leaves, and spices. They are naturally caffeine-free. Love Leaf Tea offers both true teas and herbal infusions across its range.
