Sourcing & Quality — How We Make Our Teas
When you brew a Love Leaf tea, you're not steeping a flavouring agent or an artificial blend. Every ingredient in every tea we sell is a real botanical — a leaf, a flower, a root, a spice — sourced with care and blended by hand in small batches at our UK facility in Newcastle.
What 100% natural means to us
1 / No anti-caking agents, sweeteners, or flavour enhancers
2 / No artificial flavours, colourings, or preservatives are added to any blend
3 / No stevia, sucralose, or other synthetic sweeteners
4 / Ingredients are botanical in origin — plant-based, whole or minimally processed
Our Blending Process
All Love Leaf teas are blended at our Newcastle facility in small batches. Small batches matter because they let us check quality visually and by smell before anything is packaged; they reduce the time between blending and dispatch, meaning fresher tea for you, and they give us the flexibility to adjust sourcing when a particular harvest isn't up to standard.
Each blend is checked for aroma, colour, and consistency before packaging. We don't blend to a fixed formula and forget — if a new season's chamomile smells weaker than usual, we adjust.
Packaging
Our packaging uses recyclable, plastic-free materials. The pouches that hold our loose-leaf teas are kraft paper-based with a foil inner layer to preserve freshness — no plastic outer film. Sealed bags, stickers, and labels are all produced by UK-based suppliers.
We are actively working toward fully compostable packaging across our full range and will update this page when that transition is complete.
Several of our blends contain, or are produced in the same facility as, ingredients that may be relevant to people with allergies. Our Vanilla & Almond Rooibos contains almond pieces. Our blending facility handles a range of botanicals and spices — while we clean between batches, we cannot guarantee a fully allergen-free environment.
If you have a specific allergy concern, don't hesitate to get in touch with us before ordering at mel@loveleaftea.com or 0793 092 4942 and we'll advise you directly.
